Barcelona is a city with many, many dogs. We are not sure where it stands as far as global-rankings are concerned, but you see a ton walking around the street on a daily basis. There are dogs of all different types and breeds here. CocoVail is one of the places you can go with your dog, but we are not here to toot our own horn (just a little bit).
Fortunately, there are a lot of other places one can go with their four-legged friends. In honor of that, we’ve put together a running list of dog-friendly places in Barcelona, so you know where you can go with your furry best-friend.
Barcelona Beach: Mid-September – May
The beaches in Barcelona are dog-friendly from mid-September to May. However, there are also some dog-friendly beaches year-round around Barcelona, such as: Playa de Llevant, Playa de les Banyeretes in Sant Pol de Mar, la Playa de les Salines in Cubelles y Cala Vallcarca in Sitges. It goes without saying that if you bring your pooches to these places, pick up their doo-doo and what not. But that rule applies for any of the following locations as well, naturally.
Antic Teatre
The Antic Teatre has one of the most epic terraces in Barcelona. When you walk into the space, there is a massive garden in the middle with a huge tree and plenty of space to enjoy some simple tapas, a drink, and in the company of your dog-o.
Antic Teatre Address:
Carrer de Verdaguer i Callís, 12
08003 Barcelona
McCarthy’s
McCarthy’s is pure energy with an authentic Irish charm. If you catch them on a day that there is a big footy or rugby match, it may be a bit much for your dog, but on virtually any other occasion, it’s a great place to grab a pint with your friend in tow.
McCarthy’s Address:
Carrer de Verdaguer i Callís, 12
08003 Barcelona
Carabela Café
In their words, Carabela Café is a “casual hangout” spot with “outdoor seating” and they specialize in “serving classic Tex-Mex staples, plus sangria, beer & cocktails.” You can bring your dog as well, but we guarantee that they’ll want to hound (pun intended) your food and / or drinks in the process.
Carabela Café Address:
Pas de Sota Muralla, 3
08003 Barcelona
La Desayunería
There are two locations of La Desayunería in Barcelona, and they have excellent breakfast-inspired meals: pancakes, eggs, bacon, the works. Go enjoy some eats on their terraces and bring your pooch along for the adventure.
La Desayunería Addresses:
– Carrer del Comte d’Urgell, 260, bajo 2
08036 Barcelona
– Carrer del Comte Borrell, 75
08015 Barcelona
Fish and Chips Shop
The Fish and Chips Shop also has two locations. They accompany their excellent fish and chips with good vibes and, of course, permit your dog(s) to accompany you during your visit.
Fish and Chips Shop Addresses:
– Carrer de Casanova, 91
08011 Barcelona
– C. de Rocafort, 70
08029 Barcelona
Gopnik
Nestled in Gràcia is this small, quaint cocktail lounge that allows four-legged friends as well. If you have one too many cocktails, your dog may be the one walking you home. 😉
Gopnik Address:
Carrer de Vallfogona, 23
08012 Barcelona
