What is Expatica?
Expatica is an online resource and news outlet built to provide information to the ever-growing international community and English-speaking expats specifically. Canadian citizen, Bram Lebo, and Dutch businessman Mark Welling founded Expatica in 2000. Their content is produced and managed by expats for expats. You get information straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.
Expatica is all about info, info and more info for global expats. Which is perfect for our family at CocoVail, because our mantra is to cultivate an international community. Don’t just take it from us, their website specifically states, “Expatica is the expat community’s online home away from home. A must-read for English-speaking expatriates and internationals across Europe, Expatica provides tailored expat guides full of essential information on moving, working and living abroad. With in-depth features, tools and more, Expatica brings the expat community closer together.” They are all about building communities as well, and have been doing it for nearly 20 years, kudos!

Expatica in Barcelona, Spain, Europe, and Around the World
Expatica covers many regions and countries around the world, specifically: France, Portugal, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, to name a few. They also provide a site dedicated entirely to expats living in Spain. It’s a one-stop shop where they discuss taxes, finding work, and even the dating scene here.It is important to understand the laws and the culture before going anywhere. The former is key, because you don’t want to land yourself in jail or with a fine in a foreign land. Unless of course you are into that kind of thing. The latter is imperative as well, because it’s part of the adventure of living abroad. Sinking your teeth in and really trying to adapt somewhere is a powerful, life-changing experience.Pretty much every person in the CocoVail community represents this. We are all expats in some way, shape, or form. We are all citizens of the same sphere.
CocoVail and the International Community
We are big fans of Expatica and what they do, because the fact is that calling a new place home is not easy. While we all want to create our own journeys, it helps to have some people around that walked a similar path. It’s all about the human connection, it’s all about shared learning and consciousness. Knowing someone is there for you is a powerful resource, and we are two companies that take pride in this very thing. CocoVail and Expatica commit to providing a home for those who are in search of it. We are cut from the same cloth. Whether you are in Barcelona, Boston, Berlin, or Bangladesh, we are here for you. #feelathome
