CocoVail, Barcelona’s First Beer Hall, is proud to announce our 5th Annual Vailfest / Oktoberfest in Barcelona. No, you’re not drunk, or maybe you are, we’re not judging either way. That’s a ‘k’ instead of a ‘c’ in October. It’s not Octoberfest, it’s Oktoberfest, because the tradition comes from Germany.
In the German spirit, bust out your lederhosen and bring your beer steins prior to busting a move like Frankenstein (for Halloween), it’s Oktoberfest, baby! Oktoberfest is celebrated all over the world now, and due to this we know it’s important to honor this great tradition with our own rendition.
Also, we kind of have a responsibility to do so considering we have a proper beer hall. While we won’t have a big tent, massive steins, or live bands playing traditional Bavarian tunes, we will bring the noise in other forms and make sure to give a nod to the South German festivities.
Fun Fact:In 2018 Oktoberfest party-goers consumed over 7.5 million liters of beer in 18 days! We repeat, 7.5 MILLION LITERS of beer. Holy Moses, Baby Jesus, and Mother Mary, that’s a boat load of beer!

What is Oktoberfest?
Oktoberfest started in Germany (Saxony-Hildburghausen) on October 12th, 1810. It originally was an event to honor the wedding of Prince Ludwig aka King Ludwig I to Princess Therese. The citizens of Munich were invited to a big party and people got super wasted by their standards. This may or may not be historically accurate, but we’re humans, so it’s probably 100% true.
Another Fun Fact:Apparently Oktoberfest was non-alcoholic during its inception, so what you just read was very misleading. Oh well, it’s more fun this way anyway, right?Moving on, Oktoberfest originally took place in present day Bavaria, and now the festival is present almost anywhere. It makes sense, because we humans are generally looking for reasons to party, no matter the occasion.
We look forward to hosting you for our 3rd Annual Vailfest. Until then, Prost (German for ‘Cheers’), you beautiful people! #feelathome
